Concrete Plant Installation: Step by Step

Installing a concrete batching plant is a multi-stage process that, depending on plant type and size, can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks.

The process begins with site preparation. For stationary plants, this typically means pouring reinforced concrete foundations engineered to support silo weight and dynamic loads from the mixer. Mobile plants generally require only a compacted, level surface, significantly shortening this phase.

Once the foundation is ready (and cured, if concrete was poured), silos are erected using a mobile crane, followed by installation of conveyor systems and the mixer unit. Each component is aligned and secured according to manufacturer specifications, with particular attention paid to conveyor alignment, since misalignment causes premature belt wear.

Electrical connections come next, linking the control panel to all motors, sensors, and pneumatic systems. This is followed by commissioning of the automation software, where mix designs are programmed and weighing systems are calibrated for the first time.

Before full production begins, most manufacturers recommend a series of test batches to verify weighing accuracy, mixing consistency, and discharge timing. Dust control systems (silo filters) should be activated and tested during this phase as well, both for regulatory compliance and to maintain good relations with neighboring operations.

A well-documented installation, including calibration certificates and a commissioning report, provides a valuable reference point for future maintenance and eventual resale.
